Tap Water Jam was founded in New York in 2011 by dancer/DJ duo Théo Rocha Custodio, aka Rafiki, and Dominique Sophie. Since its inception, its mission has remained the same: to create a space where club culture, house dance, hip-hop, and broader musical cultures converge in a shared moment of exchange.

Over the years, the event has traveled between Paris, Montreal, Tokyo, Brussels, and Copenhagen. In Montreal, Tap Water Jam has established itself through unforgettable parties and battles that have become key gatherings for street dancers and music lovers alike. Its collaborators include Centre PHI, Music Is My Sanctuary, the Under Pressure Festival, La Rama, JOAT, and 100lux.

Tap Water Jam is dedicated to serving the street dance community while maintaining a strong musical identity. Artist discovery, musical exploration, and the creation of new collaborations are at the core of its artistic vision. Today, Tap Water Jam actively contributes to positioning Montreal as a major hub for club and street dance cultures, and stands as one of the leading events of its kind in Canada.

Tap Water Jam Montréal is produced by Over Shed, a non-profit organization founded in 2026 by Dominique Sophie.
